CORRUPTING SCHOOLS IN NORTH CAROLINA

One of the subtleties of conservative politics is they have developed an effective modus operandi or MO called ‘redistricting’. They can thwart the intentions of the majority in a geographical region by distorting the time-honored use of population census. Originally, the Constitutional intention was to guarantee every person had equal representation in the Federal House of Representatives. No matter where in the nation you lived, each representative to Congress represented an equal number of people. The founding fathers gave the states—the people who best knew their own geography population distribution—the task of deciding how to divide the people into “legislative” districts. Everything was honest and above board up to this point.

Political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans, are guilty of distorting the process for political gain. Historically, the lines generally favored neither one over the other because the “monarchists” were scattered among the people. As rural areas developed into cities and towns, cities developed into and ghettos and business districts as well as rich suburbs and even exurbs; what had been identification of individuals as political units became identification of neighborhood. Politicians could draw line that favored one party over the other; it is a complicated process made possible by information technology. Rachael Maddow (NSMBC) pointed out the corrupting influence or the down side in our Democracy. The Republicans adopted redistricting technique as an MO. They adopted it because it works to give them, the minority, and an advantage.

The point of this post on Firetreepub.blogspot, com is to call attention to the fact that Republicans are now using the same MO that worked on both the national level and State level, at the school district level. The same MO that allowed them to control the House of Representatives will allow them to control education of our children. They “won” the State of North Carolina Legislature and the Governors Chair and are now applying that same technique to corrupt school boards in our state. There can be only one purpose. They want to instill their Republican ideas over Democratic ideas. The separation of church and state, for example, is at risk in this evangelical state; we will be living under biblical law and not secular law where all our children will be taught creationism, women are chattel, abortion is murder, and all charity is in the hands of the church leaders.  Equally as bad, segregation issue will rear its ugly head: we can expect a change from advances made in racial integration in our schools back to the separate but unequal school.  As I often say on this Blog spot, you gave them your vote but now you cannot take it back even if you want it back.
