COMPARING INHOFE'S FOREIGN POLICY TO OBAMA'S

Chuck Hagel is on the hot seat. Inhofe of Oklahoma is ranking member on the committee that will make the decision; will the committee forward Hagel’s name to the full Senate for confirmation as Secretary of Defense or not. Therefore, his opening statement was interesting for two reasons. The first is because of the power he has because of his seniority in the Senate. He will not support Hagel’s nomination. The second is that he cited his reason for not supporting him. It is the second reason that caught my attention.

I am a strong support of Obama in both domestic and foreign affairs. The white house  never voices Obama’s  foreign affairs policy, perhaps because it would be feverously opposed by the radical conservative elements in congress. Hagel’s appointment strongly suggests what the White House policy might be; thus, stand as a policy statement. In contrast, Inhofe’s positions serve as goal or icon for the radical conservative stance. As he said in his testimony, his goal is world domination of the world by the United States by military might. Obama knows the big stick policy of Teddy Roosevelt is no more than the long abandoned “real politick” as practiced by Henry Kissinger. The so-called rational cold war logic, if party “A” has a big gun party “B” has to have a bigger gun.  At last, we have a president who knows this is playground logic but not at a slapping, hitting, crying level: millions of people can and will die. We cannot achieve a lasting world peace using slave owner logic. I own you so “you have to do what I want”, and I should add, expect “you will love me” for telling you what to do—because I have the power, the bigger gun.

On the this little blue planet with the modern flat world do to communications, “inalienable rights” are known and appreciated, which means people will fight to prevent losing them. Inhofe is a bully. He is a bully in the cockpit of his plane, he is a bully his personal life, and a bully in the senate.  He is a bully in the Committee, as we will see played out today. He will use every dirty trick he knows to achieve his desired end. He wants the United States to be a bully. He thinks it is the only way to live. I have news for him—no, it is not! Obama is already showing us the way in the Middle East.
