SNYDER WINS BATTLE AGAINST FDR'S NEW DEAL

American workers have gone over the fiscal cliff Michigan. Gov. Snyder, like Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, has done not what the people of their state wanted them to do but what David and Charles Koch and the conservative members of the United State Supreme court wanted them to do.  American workers have voted to put all the ducks in a row leading to their own demise by voting Republican. In defense of the voters, Walker and Snyder did not campaign on destroying the unions; the workers would have to know that based on experience with the conservative mindset that sins of omission is a mainstream Republican campaign tactic. Like dirty campaigning, they do it because it works.

This morning on Morning Joe on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough carefully explained the party line in his usual “holier than thou” way.  He said that he is pro union but he would object to have unions take money out of his paycheck without his permission to use in a way he did not approve. Joe Scarborough lies; he is no more pro union than he is a Democrat. He conveniently omitted the fact that the workers have to vote become a union work place. This is all part of the hated New Deal of FDR. The federal National Labor Relations Act (Wagner Act, 1935) protects the rights of workers to organize and bargain collectively and prevents companies from interfering with those rights. A union shop is not a closed shop. In either case, the workers have to decide; that is democracy at work. A worker can only work at a company if he or she joins the union. That is a closed shop, is an over reach, and is different from a union shop where all the workers vote to organize. They company collects union dues from the workers because the majority of the workers voted to allow them to do this. I have previous blogged on Firetree.Blogspot, that union worker in North Carolina have found a way to combat this anti unionism but it is a poor substitute for union rights.
