POLITICAL RACKETEERING AND NEWT GINGRICH

I am really excited about my newest realization concerning the criminality being played out in modern U.S. politics (see previous posts on firetreepub.blog spot.com) because it represents a possible way to put our country back on track. other countries have political influence peddlers and bribery, etc but not have reached the level of openness and sophistication as has developed in the United States. A bunch of young punks, a gang really, shows up in Washington. They call themselves the Young Guns. They are the product of this new system, which is a protection racket. This is jumping ahead. Go back to Newt Gingrich.

In the early 1990’s, he used money collected because of his position as congressman to fund candidates for various legislative districts. He was fussy about what districts he chose and about his hand picked candidates; they were no longer machine picked candidates—in doing so he usurped the state political organizations. First, the candidate had to be loyal to him. Second, the candidate had to be in a winnable district. The salient features of the candidates were that they did not represent the people in their home district, they represented the political agendas of the congressman for Georgia, and second, with such strong economic backing, on one else could compete for the candidacy. This was a startling development because it destroyed the core purpose of “district representation”—the foundation of representative government—and put it in the hands of self serving political operatives.

Political operatives soon saw the advantages and took over the Gingrich method turning it into a protection racket. No candidate, in a Republican or near Republican district, is a viable candidate for office without the blessings and money of a “Newt Gingrich” type group. This means that if you are a congressional representative you had better do as told or you are no longer “in business”. They call it being “primaried”. In a gang-controlled neighborhood in Los Angles or New York, a small operator pay protections with money, in Washington you pay protection with your votes. Who are the gang leaders? Try Grover Norquist supported by big industrial money. Try, Wayne LaPierre of the NRA supported by big industrial money. Try the Koch Brothers who are big industrial money. Try the Walton family of Wal-Mart fame. Try the coal money in West Virginia. Try the energy money in Texas. Try the big banks on Wall Street. The objective of every one is to have all congressional representatives represent them in congress and not represent the people from their districts. That is wrong! Newt Gingrich greed for power put the American political system on a bad path and gave birth to the old protection racket system to do it. Our only recourse is to use the RICO laws, the federal laws created to protect us from racketeers.
