I like Rachael Maddow for two reasons. Her program content is factual but better yet, it is at an intellectual level not found in other news analyst programs. For example, she did an in depth piece about the disparity between party affiliation of congressional representatives and the vote for the president at the state level. What she found was that in many states Republicans dominated congressional delegations, while the state as a whole voted for Obama—Red in congress and Blue in White House. This incongruity seemed impossible to explain but Rachael did find out why. She looked at district Gerrymandering. If the State legislature was under control of the Republicans when legislative redistricting took place, the number of Republican elected to the House of Representatives (both state and federal) was greater than the number of Democrats. The bottom line is that the Republicans have found yet another way, along with voter suppression moves, union busting, and control of election laws of destroying the heart of democracy, which is your right to vote. Dishonesty by states legislatures corrupts federal law making. Once again, Republicans admit they are in a minority. They have to cheat to win. The danger is that they win.
