EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL: ANOTHER LIE

How many times have you heard Republicans say the only really goal they have is equal opportunity for everyone to get ahead; the drum beat of equal opportunity for all is not what they really want. Even a cursor look at conservative politics indicates this is a lie. What they really mean is equal opportunity for the privileged class. They are not talking about workers. Romney and Ryan’s comment about the 47% proves that. There is no way they could get to the greatly inflated figure of 47% without including a large number of people who work and work hard everyday. They sincerely believe that Democrats are all lazy indolent people. Democrats are takers not makers. I have big news for them; Democrats hate welfare cheaters as much as Republicans do if not more. We extend a helping had and often get it slapped; Republicans tell them to go to hell along with the great majority of people that really need help; wounded veterans, intellectually challenged, victims of accidents, etc.

Ayn Rand’s simple-minded philosophy is their philosophy; in their eyes, they divide the world into to two groups, takers and the makers.  Further, culture has corrupted our society into having an equally simplistic set of values based on wealth accumulation, success if having an elevator for your car. Again, this makes the judgment easy as to who are the makers and who are that takers. They recognize the key to making their politics dominant is to make sure makers are the deciders, one of their own. George W. Bush was a classic example of this: he is simple, he divided the world into haves and have nots, and he was a decider. How did they get him elected? How do they accomplish their goal? Voter suppression, dishonest campaigning, not telling people what they will do once in office, privatizing public schools, suppressing workers rights, not paying taxes, etc. They have to create an environment where there is no or the littlest possibility of equal opportunity.
