A last what “they” really think has
hit the mainstream media. For years, conservatives have passed notes, e-mails, snide
remarks, implied or otherwise insinuated that half the people in this country
are moochers; living off the government in the form of entitlements or welfare.
These people do not want to work but still want to live the good life. They
want to live off the work of those who do work hard work. They do not pay taxes
but want to live on welfare paid for by those who do pay taxes—what this means
is the 1% of people who are so rich they will never have to depend on anything
but their own bank accounts. Most of us
have to save for retirement through Social Security, for example, but not them.
They sum this up in their nasty little notes; Republicans are the hard workers
and Democrats are the moochers.
Conservatives are individualist and
Democrats are altruists. I have been blogging about this Ayn Rand politics for
a long time. Unless you are rich, you simply do not count. It doesn’t take long
before you encounter the “birther” movement. If you are Afro-American, you are
guilty of being on welfare until you prove otherwise just as if you are guilty
of not being an American even if you show them a birth certificate.
What is sad is that when you move down
the income scale you get to those with no money but feel welfare recipients cheaters
cheat them. This makes no sense but there are conservatives who pay no taxes, complain
about those receive entitlements or are on welfare.
