Every man woman and child, except those whose teachers
worked hard to teach them, Genesis and not the constitution in civics class in
high school, know that the power of the purse is in the hands of the House of
Representatives. The power to tax and
spend is in the hands of those who control that body. Recently, they should
have learned that the people in charge would
not compromise; political scientists call this the “tyranny of the majority”.
In the U.S. Senate it is even worse,
they created filibuster rule to allow a minority to rule. The point is that the Republicans are in charge of the economy
not Obama.
The Karl Rove strategy is to blame the President for
trashing the economy. The truth is those in charge of the purse are trashing
the economy. Against all odds, the President is adding jobs, and growing the
economy slowly and steadily in spite of the Congress. They are doing what they
are doing for the worst of reasons, to destroy Obama, a man whose face should
be on Mount Rushmore someday, the man who saved democracy, along side of the
face of the man who saved the Union.
The point of this Firetreeblogspot.com is that the Republican
Convention in Tampa forcefully pointed out that to solve our problems the voters have to get rid of those who are
causing the problem, which would be the 12% approval rated Republican controlled
Congress but especially vote out their leaders: Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Eric
Cantor, Jon Johnson. All Democrats and Republicans
agree with this Convention objective—thanks to the convention, I have never seen such unity on a nationwide
scale. By the way, it is abundantly
clear from the convention that Romney is only a figurehead. Ryan and Cantor,
the real leaders: the shadow Speakers of the House, which is the government
body responsible for prolonging the Republican inspired economic mess.
Obama is doing a great job but the very people the GOP wants
to put in charge of the White House are the problem. Karl’s dream; buy the
Congress, buy the Supreme Court, buy the white house and turn our democracy
into a plutocracy; a country ruled by individualists with the altruists’
community, regardless of political affiliation, at their feet.
