OBAMACARE WILL BE ENVY OF WORLD

Obamacare is the answer to the failed free enterprise health care system in the United States. England and Canada found the answer with a more socialized system but I think our answer to the problem is going to be better; however, the government, health care providers, and insurance companies have to work out myriad details. For example, an errant Republican legislature in my state of North Carolina, is denying its people the benefits. My hope is that their attitude toward health care will be one of many reasons the people kick Republicans out of office. In addition to the relationship between the federal government and the states, the federal government (Obama) has decided to try to perfect the healthcare relationship between small business owners, their employees, and the government.

Still, the Republicans are incorrigible pessimists. Their position seems totally illogical. Government exists to do things for the people that they cannot do for themselves. No one, except the most radical Republican, thinks that 316,156,000 people can rule themselves. We need the government. We cannot do a few other things for ourselves. Among them was that many Americans couldn’t save for retirement when they work at minimum wage jobs; hand to mouth existence, which leads to old age poverty. Franklyn Delano Roosevelt brilliantly solved that problem with Social Security, which is now the envy of the world. In the area of health care, we can pick as an example the fact that we cannot do surgery on ourselves. The hard place is that we often have the need; therefore, we are forced to pay someone else to do it for us; that is the rock. This vice sets the stage for the greedy.

The mental attitude of a surgeon seems to be that they can charge a high fee for their services because they are trained to do something you cannot do for yourself; therefore, it is “morally correct” for them to be rewarded. It is not immoral for them to charge what ever they wish, which is never enough. You are not in a position to exercise the muscles in Adam Smith’s invisible hand of free enterprise because the need for the surgery is not an option. The proof of this is there for all to see; the price of surgery has escalated beyond reason. Have you ever seen a surgeon ashamed for what he charges? Obamacare will do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Like social security, it will be the envy of the world.
