Shaddowbosses: this book should hit the wastebasket like an amputated limb
in a MASH Tent. I have never read the book. I read a review on Amazon.Com and
heard the author describe it on Morning Joe. That was enough. The book sounds
like “big business” paid a radical conservative writer to trash unions. It is on the level of an Ann Coulter book. He
distorts facts and, with innuendos, implies the heads of unions are somehow criminals
all abased on faulty logic.
As evidence of the strength of his logic, he cites the
effect of what happened in Wisconsin after Scott Walker trashed public unions. He explained that the unions had negotiated
high pensions and high wages for state workers. According to Conservative philosophy,
if something is good for workers, it is bad for everyone else. As a radial
conservative, Scott Walker passed laws that said workers no longer had to
belong to unions. As a result, about half the membership abandoned the union. When
someone on Morning Joe asked him why that happened, he said it was because the
unions were not doing the workers any good. The right answer is that they, like
most conservatives, did not want to pay union dues; let someone else pay but
let them collect the benefits.
